ABOUT

BIO

My photography journey started in 2003 when I purchased my first cannon click & go camera for a work visit to Milingimbi in West Arnhem land of Northern Territory.

As I became more proficient, I moved to full frame sensors with a new canon 5D Mark 11. (seems so long ago). My next camera was a Canon 1Dx for my action shooting & surfing photography (my main passion).

These days I have matured in my photography journey and appreciate the importance of having good eye for composition and a steady hand. Today, I am more likely to use my fav Cannon 5D Mark 1V and travel light with just 2 pro lenses 24-70mm & 70-200mm Ultrasonic’s.

More recently my journey has included exploring drone photography with mixed success and only 2 crashes. I like using  DJI’s Air 2S and Mavic 2 Pro and over time will use drone photography more effectively. I Can’t wait to be more proficient with this exciting technology.

Whilst having 20 years of using a camera, I admit to being mostly an amateur and my website is designed as a place beyond the maddening crowd of social media sites to store my images and share discreetly.

YAKADOOLI  is a word that has been in my head since the early 70’s when I first heard it used in the surf at Burleigh Heads during a cyclone.  A friend of mine launched onto a big right hander at Burleigh Point and would yell out “Yakadooli” with great excitement as he disappeared into a classic perfect tube. Thanks Peter E. for introducing me to this great word “Yakadooli” back at you bro, RIP.
